Arazais Oliveros, Ph.D.Dr. Oliveros is Assistant Professor in the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. Program at Mississippi State University. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology from University of Central Florida. Although research suggests that life stressors and dispositional traits can fuel the development of psychopathology, neither stressors nor traits alone lead invariably to maladjustment. Thus, Dr. Oliveros' program of research examines individual, family, and community variables that affect emotion regulation and dysregulation, as manifest in parenting, interpersonal violence, and psychopathology. Partnering with child advocates and educators in Mississippi, the lab is developing training in trauma-informed evidence-based practice and evaluation for workforce development in child advocacy and community-wide prevention.
Studies in the Regulation and Resilience lab seek to understand more about the following topics: · Child welfare and prevention of maltreatment · Parent mental health & parent-child relationship · Parenting influences on emotion regulation · Influence of attachment on conflict and resilience · Etiology and assessment of emotion regulation Students working in this lab have the opportunity to be involved in setting up studies, data-collection, literature reviews, and conference presentations. Qualified students may conduct independent or collaborative research projects where they begin with a research idea and finish by presenting their findings via conference presentations and journal submissions. |
